Simple RF transmitter/receiver module - remote switching

Hello all

I posted this in r/electronics but no luck, so wondering if you geniuses can help!

I'm devising a secondary car alarm system, totally independent of the vehicle. What I'm looking for is a simple RF transmitter / receiver module, preferably off the shelf and in a little plastic box, which has screw down terminals for wiring power, input, output, etc.

The RF transmitter needs to be 12v powered and will have an input trigger (PIR, switch, whatever) which on activation will send the signal to the receiver.

The receiver will be inside the house, so any power source is fine. Upon receiving a signal, it will activate the output terminal.

It's a remote switch/remote relay. Nothing more. I can do any additional logic/timing circuits myself.

I just can't seem to find anything "off the shelf" that fits my needs.

I mean, a doorbell would work, but I'd have to unsolder the switch and wire in different inputs. I can do that, but I'd just prefer to have something more robust and fit for purpose.

Another idea I had was using Lutron Pico keypads but again, having looked at the teardown photos, I think this is over complicating things and the pcb soldering would be a pain, and untidy.

Any ideas as to what I might use? Everything I've found seems to be with a keyfob e.g. for opening a garage door or similar.

Many thanks!
